Privacy Policy

How this campaign collects, uses, and protects your information — in plain language.

Last updated: July 3, 2026

David Poll for LASD 2026 is a California candidate-controlled campaign committee (FPPC ID# 1492323) supporting David Poll's campaign for the Los Altos School District Board of Trustees. This policy explains what information we collect when you interact with this website or our campaign, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run the campaign, and we do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect, and why

Email updates

If you sign up for campaign updates, we collect your name and email address so we can send you campaign news. These sign-ups are handled by our email provider, EmailOctopus. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

Volunteering

If you fill out the volunteer form, we collect your name, email, ZIP code, and the ways you would like to help, so we can coordinate volunteer activity. The volunteer form is handled through Google Forms.

Donations

If you contribute, we collect your name, mailing address, email, occupation, employer, and payment information to process your contribution. Payments are handled by our donation platform, Zeffy, and its payment processor. We do not store your card number ourselves.

Messages

If you email the campaign, we receive your message and your email address through Google Workspace.

Website analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and cookieless. It measures aggregate traffic — things like page views, referrers, and countries. It does not use cookies, build profiles of individuals, or track you across other websites.

Required public disclosure of contributions

California's Political Reform Act requires our committee to collect and publicly report the name, address, occupation, and employer of anyone who contributes $100 or more (cumulatively) in a calendar year. This information is filed with the state and county on public campaign finance reports — Form 460 and related filings — and becomes part of the public record.

This is a legal requirement, not a choice we make. Donor information at or above this threshold is not kept private.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. This is different from the required public disclosure of donor information described above, which is compelled by California law — it is not a sale.

Third-party services we use

We rely on a few trusted services to run the campaign. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies:

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from campaign emails at any time using the link in any email. You can also contact us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. The one exception is information we are legally required to collect, retain, and report under California campaign finance law, which we cannot delete on request.

Children

This website and our campaign communications are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
